So don’t forget to rate and review if you haven’t already. Let’s get down to business. So what exactly is Carter’s working styles. So it’s a really cool framework that really helps you to understand your natural tendencies and preferences when it comes to work and how we interact with others. So it’s going to give you some juicy insights into our communication style decision making processes and really how we roll in the workplace. Right. So today, we are going to be going through the five main working styles as described by color in 1975. And let’s see which ones you identify with. Oh, and I’ve created a free quiz to accompany this episode that you can take to find out what your working site is at Lucy garden.com forward slash quiz. Okay, so first up, let’s dive into the very first one, which is the be perfect style. Now I can relate to this one a lot, where all my perfectionist girls at that was totally me for so many years. So if you have a be perfect working style, you will have a burning desire for perfection and excellence. So you can set the bar really high not only for yourself, but also for others around you. You know those people who always strive for just perfection and flawlessness, they are totally rockin to be perfect work in style. So that was definitely me for so many years. And if it sounds like you, this, you will know it’s you if you love being detail orientated, if you love planning meticulously, if you like everything just to look, you know, neat and tidy in your work and have everything perfect, really. So they’re like you have this style, you know, or somebody on your team may have this style, you will know because they’re the ones who really take pride in delivering top notch results. But here’s the thing, sometimes being obsessed with perfection, can actually lead to being overly self critical, and then struggle to delegate tasks. And, you know, I remember I’ve talked to you guys before about a team member that I had used to take so long to get anything to me. You know, she would spend two weeks getting a report ready and you know, she used to get really anxious or a bit touchy with me if I tried to tell her to kind of hurry up and get the job done. But it’s because she had to be perfect working style. So I suppose as leaders, it’s really essential for you if you have this style or also to encourage your team for the same. It’s really finding that sweet spot between aiming for greatness and understanding then that Perfection isn’t always necessary and Oftentimes, it is absolutely not achievable. And in the quiz I created once you get your results, you’ll also get a customized development plan with actionable tips on how you can actually overcome your perfectionist tendencies. So you can go to Lucy garden.com, forward slash quiz to grab that there. So like I said, you know, there, there might be people on your team who exhibit these tendencies to which can really reduce productivity. So I would really recommend that you tell them that you’re okay with failure, because a perfectionist is terrified of what will happen if they get it wrong. So make it safe for them to fail. Okay, so now let’s move on to the next one, which is the be strong working style. Now, these people are all about assertiveness and success, okay? They’re very self reliant, self dependent, confident, and they have a burning desire for autonomy, okay, so you know, those leaders who always take charge and just make things happen, they are the embodiment of the Be Strong Style, nothing seems to faze them. They’re calm in a crisis, you know, they’re they have the base Strong Style. And leaders like this are natural decision makers, and they really thrive in high pressure situations, they’ve got this, I suppose, can do attitude that really inspires others around them, and they just seem to be unshakable. However, one of the flaws with this work in style is that, you know, you don’t have to do it on your own. So if you have a very strong working style, it’s really important that you remember that collaboration and empathy are superpowers too. So you know, you have to kind of channeled that male and masculine and feminine energy as a leader, and the Be Strong Style tends to have more of a masculine energy about it. So I suppose really be strong, people tend to find it really difficult to show vulnerability. So it’s really important that if this is you, or if you have someone on your team like this, that you begin to lead by example, by sharing your own vulnerabilities. Okay, so this is just one of the development strategies that I recommend for this work in style. And you can get the others other tips and other strategies in your report when you take the quiz at Lucy garden.com forward slash quiz.

All right, next, move on to the next one, which is the hurry up working style. And oh my god, can I resonate with this one, it is both a blessing and a curse. So people who have a hurry up work and style, these people are the masters of multitasking and absolutely thrive in fast paced environments. Like I swear, I saw Joe Hurry up working style, I’ve had to really work on it over the years. Because I’m all about productivity. I’m all about getting everything done now getting it done fast. But one of the pitfalls of having a hurry up working style is actually that you can miss critical details. And I often would end up wasting time, then going back fixing mistakes, maybe that I’ve made. So it’s really important. If you you know, if you have a hurry up working style, you know, you will be fantastic at meeting deadlines, there’s no way a hurry up won’t do it because they’re already on to the next thing, okay, they’re really, really good at driving projects forwards, and they just have the skills to juggle multiple tasks like a probe. But it is so important to remember. And if you’re multitasking, come back to me, if you have a hurry up working style, or you’re starting to think ah, that’s why such and such on my team always seems to be getting things done. That’s why they are you know, boom, boom, boom, boom. Sometimes slowing down a bit can actually lead to better quality work and more meaningful connections with team members. So it’s really all about, you know, if you’ve got a hurry up work in style, you’re probably going to be more results focused than relationship focused. And as I’ve told you before, you know, in the corporate world, when it comes to new opportunities, you have two currencies. And again, if you’re multitasking, come back to me, you have your performance currency, which is based on your results. It’s based on your productivity and all of the things. But then you’ve got your relationship currency. And if you neglect the relationship building part, you are going to fall behind my friends. So it’s really important that you know why you’re striving to get all those tasks done. You’re actually building in some time for relationship building to Okay. And again, when you take the quiz, I share my tried and tested strategies that I use to help you kind of maximize your style without burning yourself out. So head over to Lucy garden.com forward slash quiz. Okay, so quick recap. We’ve gone through a few of the styles, we’ve gone through the B perfect, we’ve gone through the Hurry up, we’ve gone through the B strong and now we’re on the homestretch. Ah, so here’s the second to last one. And it is called the please people style. Now, I work with a lot of women with this working style. And I think many women in general tend to want to please others, it’s kind of emotional, it’s in our conditioning. A lot of these women are just incredible leaders. So if you have a people pleasing tendency, and want you to know that you are the leader, that is the supportive one, you are the one who wants things to be harmonious you want to accommodate and please others, you know, when even if this is not you, you will know somebody who has this because they will always go the extra mile to just make sure everyone is taken care of. So women, you know, if you have this style women who have this style, or even men as well, okay, this is not limited to women. You know, they really have a knack for creating harmonious work environments and building really strong relationships, because they’re all about the people. But it’s super important to remember that setting boundaries, and prioritizing your needs is equally important. So it’s all about trying to strike the balance between pleasing others and getting the job done and getting that you know, recognition that you crave, and then taking care of yourself. And that, my dear is the key to sustainable success, balance and happiness. Okay. So honestly, like, as a former people pleaser, I found this one so hard to break. But when I did, oh my God, my life changed. And now one of my superpowers is actually helping women whose people pleasing is impacting their work life balance and their mental well being. And I went through 10 years of hard work on myself to overcome this, just so you don’t have to. So if you want me to support you through it, again, just reach out to me, as always, I can share her you can work with me, you can just DM me on Instagram or LinkedIn, just Lucy garden, or you can send me an email Hello at Lucy garland.com. And it’s also going to give you some really simple but really effective actionable tips to get you started. So again, just Lucy garmin.com forward slash quiz. And finally, we have the try hard working style. The trihard working style is individuals who constantly strive to prove themselves often they go above and beyond to just impress others. You know, if you have people on your team, who have a try hard working style, they’re gonna have a strong desire to be recognized and valued for their contributions. Now, this may be you yourself, too, okay. So if you do this, you’ll know you’ve got to try hard working style, because you’re super dedicated, you’re ambitious, and you’re always willing to put in the extra effort to achieve the business goals. So if you’re on your laptop late at night, okay, or if you’re working at the weekends, it’s very likely you probably have a trihard working style. Now, people with this style, while their drive and determination are absolutely admirable, admirable, it’s really important if you yourself, as a leader have this working style, you avoid burning yourself out or becoming overwhelmed by taking on too much. So you’ve really got to learn to be gentle with yourself and realize, you know, like, what are you striving for all the time, I was talking to a client the other day, and you know, she had made it to executive level and she was on a multiple six figure salary, amazing money, she was able to buy all the Louis Vuitton bags she wanted, she had all this money in the bank. But actually, she had no time to enjoy it, she had no time to enjoy because she was working so hard. So that’s why she hired me as her coach to help her with her workload management to help her to push back to help her to set boundaries and all of those things and really learn to set realistic expectations for herself to delegate and to learn to prioritize self care, because they are honestly essential, essential. And sometimes if you’re trying hard, you’ve got this limiting belief that actually, if you just continue to deliver and if you just work hard, you’re going to get noticed. But I’ve seen a time and time again where these people don’t get in the outperform category and then they don’t get the promotion and things like that. So actually, you’re falling into a trap of just hard work. So I think it’s really important if you have a try hard working style, it’s affecting your well being that you just take a step back and learn to set some boundaries.
