What if leading at senior level didn’t have to cost you everything? What if you could finish up work most of the time in the evenings and actually not check your emails until the morning time, knowing everything is under control? What if you were able to speak up in critical conversations without second guessing yourself 10 times first or worse overthinking it 10 times for 10 hours afterwards? What if you could be that grounded, calm leader?
in the room and the present mother, partner, wife, daughter, friend at home. And what if you could actually enjoy your leadership role way more than you are right now? Because today I want to show you what is possible. And that’s exactly what I’m going to be talking about on this week’s episode of the 360 Leadership Podcast. So make sure that you listen in. It’s going to be a good one.
Lucy Gernon (01:11.16)
Hi there and welcome back to another episode of the 360 Leadership podcast. This is an episode I’ve been dying to record because it’s a question that I really want you to sit with. I’m really thinking about reflections this time of year and I think it’s really important that you take the space to just reflect on where you’re at right now. So we might just even start if it’s safe for you to do so, just to kind of just take a minute to just…
just to like check in with your breath. Maybe just if you’re, if it’s safe and you’re, you know, maybe you’re driving or you’re sitting, listen to this, just drop your shoulders a little bit and just relax your jaw. And just allow yourself just to relax into this moment because this is your time. And when you and I are here together, it’s just you and I, even though there’s lots of you who listen to the show, but I’m talking to you. Yes, I am talking to you.
Because I know you’re a powerhouse leader. I know that you care deeply about your work, about delivering. I know you’re fiercely protective of your team, but I also know that leading at senior level comes at a cost. So what is that cost for you? What if you could actually finish work most of the time and not be on your emails late at night? And if you could speak up without second guessing and
really enjoy your role. Like honestly guys, it’s so possible because it’s happening for the women I work with in 360 leaders club every single day. You know, I like to keep it real. Are there times when the shit hits the fan and this all goes out the window? Yes. But for the most part, the tools and strategies and the community element of 360 is what helps our members stay on track. It’s why they, you know, renew again and again and again.
So if you’re thinking about investing in yourself, we have our wait list open right now. So if you head over to 360LitersClub.com forward slash wait list, or you just look in the show notes, you’ll see it there because I really do believe that, you you deserve support. And if you like my style and you like the podcast, 360LitersClub might just be for you. So let’s be honest. Most of us were taught that if we wanted to rise as women, we had to do it their way, right?
Lucy Gernon (03:36.643)
This old business model, we have to work harder than everyone else. There’s this whole prove it again syndrome where women do have to work twice as hard to be taken seriously. We need to be nice, but not too soft. We need to be strong, but not too much. We need to be opinionated, but just tone it down just a little bit. We have to say yes to prove our worth. But this model is absolutely broken and it leads to
overwhelm, resentment, frustration, burnout, and the sneaky belief that like this is just what it’s like at senior level. And then there’s other things that leads to that are I see all of the time and I would have been there myself, which would be like maybe weight gain. I know I’m talking about body weight, but yeah, it’s reality sometimes. Or maybe you’re not gaining weight, but maybe you’re not nourishing yourself. Maybe you’re actually
not eating because you’re too busy. Maybe you’re self-medicating with alcohol just to like really relax and de-stress. That is not good for us, right? And that is not the way it needs to be. That is the old way. But what if it could be different? What if 2026 was the year that you actually unlocked your next level, you felt the most confident you felt in your life, you were able to set boundaries?
You’re able to deliver with excellence. You are respected by people who currently might make you feel small. And what if success actually felt good? What if it felt empowering, energizing and aligned? What if it didn’t come at the cost of your health, your mindset, your joy, your sanity, or maybe even your identity? Because I’ve coached
hundreds of women in leadership at this stage. And a lot of women tell me that they don’t feel they can be who they really are at work. And that makes me so sad because the top regret of the dying is I wish I had lived a life true to myself. Please don’t people, please. It’s time that we stopped this frickin people pleasing and started to actually lead. Because when you change how you lead yourself and when you decide to be unapologetically you.
Lucy Gernon (06:03.862)
with, I’m not going to say, you know, you’re not going to be the same as you would be sitting on the couch watching something with your family or whatever. But, you know, it’s important that you bring yourself to work. And when you change that, when you really start being able to lead yourself, your emotions, being yourself, all of those things showing up differently, your team, your work, your impact, your confidence, it all transforms as does how it’s viewed. Because I see two different types of women who are literally
working their asses off for recognition and for impact, right? One is working really hard, not focusing on the right things and as a result is not getting the recognition, which can really sting when you are a high performer because I know you all are and you’re delivering. And the other is getting recognized, but it’s at a serious cost because I know that you can have both and there’s so many stories I can share.
of my clients on our 360Liters Club members who have transformed. Now, again, I always like to keep it real. It’s an ongoing journey, guys. Professional and personal development does not mean you do a course in work on leadership or you go away for an offsite or you go to, if you’re in Ireland, the IMI or a university and you do something and then it’s one and done. It’s ongoing. And that’s exactly why I created 360Liters Club and I really
We’d love to invite you to consider looking at the program and what we do in there because Lisa Nash, one of our 360 members, she’s an executive vice president of sales and marketing in life sciences. And Lisa says, I can’t say enough great things about 360. Now I have not only developed as a leader, I embrace my skills, faults and quirks that make me who I am and forever grateful. And for me, I love that we help you guys be more impactful leaders, but ultimately I’m in this for you.
Right, I’m in this for you. I want you to feel good about yourself and that is just music to my ears. And then another lady is Kira, who’s a technical manager in the pharmaceutical industry. And she said before 360, she was stretched thin, she was overwhelmed, and now she’s clearing her goals. She’s intentional with her time and she’s confidently enjoying the present as she builds the future for her family. And she was just recently promoted. Then we have Niamh, who’s a director of governance operations. And she said when she joined, she was reaching burnout.
Lucy Gernon (08:31.326)
And she’s now in a new role with ideal conditions and she delegates as appropriate without feeling guilty. Now, these women are not unicorns. They just got the right structure, the right tools, the right support, the right mindset, the right strategies to thrive. And what changed? Their self-trust, their executive presence, their boundaries and their capacity to lead with
effortless authenticity instead of efforting with masking. Right. So if you’re craving more, this is your sign. If you’re listening to this and you’re nodding along and maybe you’re even feeling a little emotional, something sparking in you, that’s not an accident. And you’re not meant to do this life alone. We were created in tribes, guys. It’s how we thrive. And I was listening to
Brizzy talking on a podcast recently about how we’ve lost this, this, this sense of community, the sense of tribe, because we are so busy in our own little worlds and life is just passing us by. And I really want you to enjoy your career. want you to have the support outside your organization so that you can see what’s possible. Because when, when you work with me and you joined 360 and you see all these women doing all these incredible things and
the momentum that you gain from watching other women take imperfect action and be more productive and set boundaries and have difficult conversations and advocate for themselves and stand up for themselves with people that normally they wouldn’t have. They are just becoming absolute pinnacle leaders that people will respect. But when you’re not in that place and you’re people pleasing and you’re not setting boundaries and you’re
You know, you’re working really hard and don’t get me wrong. I do understand corporate guys. I’ve worked for like 17 years in the pharmaceutical industry. I’ve worked in multinationals. I’ve worked in SMEs. I’ve worked, you know, I’m in industry like 25 years now at this stage, right? I have my first leadership role. Jesus. 25 years ago, officially, but I was actually always leading teams. Side note, well before that in supervising roles in restaurants and things and bars. But like just like it, I just have to have a bit of crack.
Lucy Gernon (10:54.35)
right, allow yourself to be supported. And in 360, we teach you, it’s not like a leadership development program that you will love in work for like a week and then go back and literally forget everything you’ve learned and go back to your old ways. I have set up a seven step system and learning is just one part of it. And there’s six other steps which give you accountability, which give you clarity, which give you connection, which give you ongoing support so that you actually, you actually have a career and you have a life. So.
We teach you how to really unlock your next level of confidence to reclaim your time because you are wasting time now. I promise you, you have time. Protect your well-being and really finally own your worth, which is what it all starts with. And we do it in a way that is so doable alongside your leadership role. It’s all set up to be consumed within 30 to 60 minutes a week. You have support on demand. You have live calls. It’s like I like to think of it like a gym membership that you come.
The more you do, the more you’ll get out. But we have so many success stories of members who can’t make the live element and watch replays or use tools or they ask questions in the community. And we’ve had members who been promoted that I’ve actually never even personally met myself. Right now, I don’t recommend that approach. I want you on the live calls. It’s how I’ve set it up. I just want you to know you don’t have to like spend hours and hours of your time. It is absolutely designed to get you results fast once you’re committed, because I know you don’t need.
more on your plate. You don’t need to take a week or two to go off to a training, disrupt your life, disrupt your business and then come back and not even use the fricking tools. What you need is ongoing support, ongoing accountability, ongoing upleveling, ongoing strategic thinking, ongoing accountability for reflection, ongoing accountability for
staying on track for what you want to achieve in your leadership role. But also my real like one of my clients said to me recently, she was like, Lucy, you’re such a fantastic light worker. And if you’re not familiar with that, a light worker is somebody who’s here from like a soul perspective to, you know, spread light in the world. And sometimes I feel like I’m under the guise of leadership training. We do. Absolutely. That’s the core focus. You know, but.
Lucy Gernon (13:15.054)
My heart is here because I know there’s some of you who are connected with this message and others are like, what the hell is she on about? That’s OK. Yeah, I just feel like I’m here for you. So with that being said, the 360Liters Club waitlist is now open. And if you want to be here when doors are opening again, which they’re going to be like, I mean, so soon, it’s not funny. You’ve got to get on the waitlist. So head to 360LitersClub.com forward slash waitlist and get on there.
Now, when you join the waitlist, you get priority access, you get early bonuses and you get a chance to get an opportunity to grab one of our spots for our next cohort, which will be starting in 2026. So I really invite you to go over there. 360LitersClub.com forward slash waitlist. Now, sometimes, you know, you might be thinking, can I invest in myself? Like it’s this time of year, blah, blah, blah. And I understand all of that. We’ve had women who’ve invested, who’ve taken shares out to invest.
We’ve also had women who were able to get it paid for by their company because all the training in 360 is now CPD accredited. So you can actually usually put this through your L &D budget in some way. So now might be a really good time if there is budget left over to talk nicely to your manager or to your L &D or your H2O department. Or maybe you’re an L &D leader yourself or H2O leader and you have budget left over. Please reach out to me because if you don’t use it, you lose it as you know.
and we’ll be able to work something out if you wanted to use your organization to fund it. On the flip side, you own your career, not your organization. So since I personally started investing in myself with my own money, like my growth has been exponential, because when you pay, you pay attention and you’ll want to get your money’s right? Yeah. So head over to 360LeadersClub.com forward slash wait list. And I’m just going to leave you with this one.
You absolutely do not need to burn yourself out to succeed. What you need is structure, ongoing accountability, ongoing coaching, ongoing learning and an ongoing support system in place so that when you do fall off the wagon, because you will, we all do, it’s inevitable. I will be there with your new amazing community of like-minded women to pick you back up, help you dust yourself off.
Lucy Gernon (15:41.688)
so you don’t get stuck in your head, so that your mindset does not take over and you start thinking negatively, so that you stay on the success balance and happiness path, because you can lead powerfully and you can live fully. So I will leave you with that. Thank you for listening. I hope I’ve given you some food for thought. You deserve the absolute world. You deserve to have it all. So I will see you again next week, lovely lady. Same time, same place. Bye for now.
