Hello there, and welcome back to another episode of the powerhouse Revolution podcast. How are you doing today? Are you feeling good? Are you feeling tired? I invite you to reflect actually on this question. What’s one thing that’s really bothering me right now? And then the next question is, how am I going to resolve this? Because if there’s something bothering you right now, there is no point in dwelling on it and ruminating about it in your head, the only way that you’re going to be on bothers like Winnie the Pooh here, you know, he used to go, Oh, bother. And the only way you’re going to be unbothered is by actually taking action. So I encourage you to reflect on those two questions later on after this episode. But for now, I wanted to talk to you today about what to do when you feel guilty about investing in yourself. Now, the reason that I am doing this on the podcast today is because I have been talking to a lot of women recently who are starting to get the concept of investing in themselves. They’re stopping seeing investing in themselves as a cost. And they’re starting to see it actually is an investment. Because when you invest in yourself, and you work with somebody like me, or you invest in yourself, and you go for a massage, or you invest in yourself, and you do something for you, when you take care of you, you’re better for everyone else. However, there can be a lot of guilt associated with spending your own money on yourself. As ridiculous as it may sound, I totally get it. Because I remember like I’ve never really truly shared my own kind of money story before. The person you see today is absolutely not the person that I was years ago, I had such a scarcity mindset, okay, I, you know, we growing up, we didn’t have a lot of money. So money was scarce. I remember, my mother would have had a little black book where she documented all of our household spending and, you know, money was tight. I grew up in the 80s. And my dad was unemployed for you know, some of the time my mother baked tarts at home. So we always had enough, but I always money was wasn’t something that was abundantly around us. So I that was my mindset. My mindset was always Well, money is scarce. And when I had it, I would have held on to it. So things like I would have shocked in all the shops in the sale rail, always shop the sale rate, I never would have bought new stock, because I didn’t feel I was worthy. But I suppose subconsciously, I certainly would not have invested 1000s in myself like I do right now to work with coaches, or even like getting my hair extensions done or going for Botox, like they would have all been astronomical luxuries that other people did. But because of all of the work I’ve done on my own mindset, I do not feel one bit guilty about investing in myself. And that’s what I want to talk to you about today. So there’s two ways of living right now if you’re multitasking come back to me because this applies to everything. Okay? It applies to love, it applies to money, it applies to everything. You can either live in scarcity, or you can live in abundance. Okay? Now scarcity is when you are in lack it’s when there’s not enough you’ve not enough resources, you don’t have enough money, you don’t have enough time. You don’t have enough this you don’t have enough that okay, that is scarcity. But where there is scarcity, there is always abundance, okay, because in life, it is it’s one of the universal laws okay, that we have contrast. So water scarcity, there’s also abundance. So I would challenge you in terms of you do have enough resources, you’re just not using them in the right way. You do have enough money, you just need to choose where to pull it. There’s so many different ways you can look at As I believe personally in Ireland, in particular, in our culture here, for anyone who’s not from Ireland, we are living in this cultural hangover from the famine, where everything is scarce. So back in the 1800s, all the historians are going to come up me now, I don’t know what we are living in this hangover off the farm and when there was the potato blight in Ireland, and it was the time when we were under the rule of the British monarch. And basically, our people starved, and many of them emigrated to the US, which is why there are so many Irish Americans over in America, I would have people over there from my lineage who had to leave Ireland because we didn’t have enough food, nevermind money. And I believe that in Irish people in particular, we are still living in that hangover. But like, I always tell you, we are in the middle of a revolution right now does massive change. We have never seen change, like what’s going on in the world right now. Okay. And every we have abundance, right? Money is abundant. Love is abundant. Everything is abundant, if you choose to look at it that way. So for me to kind of get over where I came from, which is, you know, we didn’t have a lot of money, I’ve had to do a shitload of work on my mindset. And I remember Tony Robbins said something that really changed my life. And if you’re multitasking, come back to me, I’ve probably showed this before. But I was really struggling, you know, I was like, Oh, my God, I don’t want to be so anxious. And I remember that, then I was like, Oh, my God, I want to start my business. I’ll figure it out myself, because I just everything was always hard. I don’t know, can you relate? I tend used to make things harder for myself than they really needed to be. And then I heard Tony Robbins say that smart people hire other people who are where they are to show them the way because when you hire somebody, you can get to where you want to be way faster, way quicker, way easier, and way more joyfully than you ever will on your own. So when I heard that I kind of began investing, and today’s I think I’ve invested I haven’t actually counted it up, because the old me would probably puke. That means get sick, in case you’re not from Ireland. I’ve invested over 50,000 plus in quarters in the last couple of years. However, as a result, I have achieved so so much like building a multi six figure business in less than two years, being a sought out multi award winning executive coach, I’ve been nominated for 11 awards, I’ve won three, like startup of the year power within champion on emerging business woman, I’ve been sought out in the media, big, big Irish brands in particular, like image and the Irish Times, and the business polls, the Irish Independent, all those publications, I would have looked at and thought you know, would never want to talk to me, were asking me to write articles and things. And when I look at, like the success I’ve created in my business, the biggest success I’ve had, as I’m just happier in who I am, I’m far more confident, I honestly have never felt better in who I am and what I bring to the world. I’ve worked much better work life balance, my family are happier, my relationships are better. Everything is just better, since I’ve started to invest in myself, okay. So I just want you to know that when I talk about investing in yourself, you’re talking to somebody who did not have a lot of money. I remember having to sell my coffee table in January about let’s say about 12 years ago, because we had no money left myself, my husband after Christmas, because we just didn’t have it, you know, we were in the time of the recession, and we just didn’t have money. So I really want you to know that. If you have a scarcity mindset, like I hear you. And if you don’t have a scarcity mindset, what I’m gonna say to you is just so much easier, okay? So if you want to stop feeling guilty about investing in yourself, here’s a couple of points. Okay, there’s three kind of key points that I want you to listen to me on today. Okay? So if you’re multitasking, come back to me. If you’re feeling guilty about investing in yourself, the first thing you need to do is get clear on what you want and why it’s important. Okay, because when you align with your vision, and where you’re going, it’s so much easier to put money behind it. Now if you don’t know what you want, that’s all the more reason because if you don’t it’s like if you don’t have clarity and where you’re going it’s like getting into the car and just driving okay, you need to have a destination and that’s why working with somebody like me can be super super powerful because even wonder you know, one of the very powerful tools I do is I have a creative visualization session that I do with you, okay, where I get you to really think about, okay, how is this going to impact my life on a achieved as vision? How will it affect my personal brand? How will it affect my career, my family, my team everything. And then it’s like, why are all those things so important to you? So, if you want better work life balance, for example, how will that impact your life, like what would be different if you had it? What will be different with your family, if you had it, your team, if you want to accelerate your career and get to the next level, like what will be different in your life if you had achieved that. So when you connect to the vision of who you want to become, okay, that vision needs to be so clear and so powerful that it’s going to totally supersede everything, all the fair you have to do with your money. Okay? The second thing I invite you to do, and this is also important, I’ve already said, what I did is work on your money mindset.

So if there’s one thing you need to do, and if you’re multitasking, come back to me, if you feel guilty, investing in yourself, do this one thing. And that is get to the root cause of your scarcity mindset. Because at the end of the day, money is only a resource, and it’s not even our most valuable one, time is your most valuable one. Because when time has passed, you can’t get it back. You can always earn more money, but time has taken lovely lady. And if you’re over 40, like I am, you most likely have more years behind you than ahead of you. I’m gonna say that, again, as morbid as it is, it’s the frickin truth. If you’re over 40, you most likely have more years behind you and ahead of you. So you have got to work on your money mindset, because you want to accelerate your potential, you want to make a bigger impact you want to become who you were born to be. And if you’re stuck, and if you don’t know how to do that on your own, investing in yourself to work with someone like me is the best gift you will ever, ever give yourself, okay? But you’ve got to just drop the guilt. And you can start to do that by working on your money mindset. And then the third thing I invite you to do is to trust your gut. Warren Buffett said famously said that the best investment you can ever make is in yourself. And that’s because you’re in full control of the return. Okay? So if you’re listening to me today, and you’re thinking about working with me, or you’re thinking about doing something else, okay? Where it requires your money, or your time, your energy and investment, I want you to feel into your future self, and lean away from that fear. So you have two choices, fear is always going to be more powerful fear is always going to be the dominant force, because it’s how our brain works, right? It’s it’s trying to keep you safe. It’s trying to protect you. That’s why fear pops up. But you’re smart enough to know that you can control it, okay? So I invite you to tune into your got ignore your mind, and then just do it. Because I often ask my clients. And thankfully, I don’t. I don’t know how any coach ever, ever got me to invest because I was so afraid of investing in myself at the start. And thankfully, I don’t mean money. Women like that most women are much more open to it now. But I often ask my clients, how they feel after making the commitment to invest in themselves. And they say things like, Oh my God, I feel so much lighter. I feel more optimistic, haven’t actually taken action. I feel relieved, haven’t made a decision. So whether the guilt of investing in yourself is coming from booking massage, or you’re feeling guilty because you are taking time off to recharge or you want to invest in working with me or somebody like me, guilt is just an illusion. You do not need to feel bad about investing your time. It’s your time, your energy and your money into yourself. Okay? You work so freakin hard. It is okay to put yourself first. So your action today is to do something. If you have been putting something off for a while and you know you want to invest in yourself. Just go do it. And if you’ve been listened to me for a while, and you’re likely say I need to work with you, I want to end 2023 with a bang. Just do it. Listen to your God, I promise you.
