#62 Mindset Shifts You Must Make to Conquer Conflict & Improve Relationships at Work

The 360 Leadhership Podcast, Episode 62, 01 March 2023 by Lucy Gernon

Are you being treated unfairly at work?

In today’s workplace, bullying can be a serious issue that affects many individuals, with a recent study finding that 80% of women who experience workplace bullying are bullied by other women.

However, it’s important to recognize that many times what we perceive as bullying may actually be a projection of our own insecurities and beliefs.

In addition to the general challenges of bullying in the workplace, women in leadership positions in particular are often faced with unique challenges. Studies have shown that women in leadership positions are often held to higher standards, subjected to greater scrutiny, and faced with more resistance and push back than their male counterparts.

These challenges can be even more pronounced in male-dominated industries, where women are often the only or one of the few women in a leadership role.

Can you relate?

Despite these challenges, women in leadership positions have a unique opportunity to create positive change in their organisations and set an example for others to follow.

By being proactive, supportive, and inclusive, women can create a more positive and supportive work environment and reduce the prevalence of bullying in the workplace.

YOU can drive change. Support and mentor other women, provide guidance and help to create a supportive network that can help to break down barriers and break the cycle of negativity and conflict in the workplace. By working together, women in leadership positions can help to create a more equitable and supportive work environment for all, regardless of gender.

In some cases, there can be an unspoken narrative of competition between women in the workplace, particularly in male-dominated industries. However, by sticking together and supporting each other, women can break this cycle of hostility and conflict.

It is especially important to be proactive in creating a positive work environment and combating bullying. By being supportive, inclusive, and understanding the dynamics at play in the workplace, women can help to create a more positive and supportive environment for all and set an example for others to follow.

With great power comes great opportunities for change.
